What is MFR?
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a gentle, hands-on therapy that focuses on identifying and releasing restrictions in the fascia— a thin, connective tissue that weaves throughout the entire body, surrounding muscles, bones, and organs. These restrictions can occur due to trauma (such as surgery or injury), poor posture, repetitive movements, or emotional stress, causing pain and tension either at the source or in other areas of the body as the fascia pulls and tightens.

MFR involves applying sustained, light pressure and gentle stretching to release tightness, restore proper function, improve mobility, and promote relaxation and healing. This therapy is particularly effective for relieving chronic pain, stress, and injury-related discomfort, providing a holistic approach to improving overall well-being.
What is the Fascial System?
The fascial system is a network of connective tissue that runs throughout the entire body, surrounding and supporting your muscles, bones, organs, and nerves. It helps everything in your body work together, providing stability, flexibility, and protection. When the fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can cause pain and limit movement, which is why keeping it healthy is important for overall wellness.

The difference between traditional massage therapy and MFR
The main difference between Myofascial Release and massage therapy is the focus and technique. Massage therapy works on relaxing the muscles through pressure and movement, often targeting the whole body for temporary stress relief and relaxation. Myofascial Release specifically focuses on the fascia— the connective tissue around your muscles using gentle, sustained pressure to release tension, improve mobility, and address pain caused by tight or restricted fascia with long-term relief.
What to expect
During a Myofascial Release (MFR) treatment, you can expect a gentle and relaxing experience. The therapist will use light, sustained pressure on specific areas of your body to release tension in the fascia. Unlike a traditional massage, there’s no lotion or quick movements—. Just slow, focused work. You may feel a gentle stretch or release as the fascia softens, leaving you feeling more relaxed and balanced. It’s best to bring a pair of gym shorts and a sports bra or tank top, but whatever you’re comfortable in we can work with.

Who can benefit from MFR
By gently releasing tight or stuck areas of fascia, MFR can improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and restore movement. It’s effective for a variety of conditions, including but not limited to:
-
Chronic Pain (back, neck, or shoulder pain)
-
Headaches and Migraines
-
Fibromyalgia
-
Sciatica
-
Scoliosis
-
TMJ
-
Sports Injuries
-
Joint Stiffness
-
Post-Surgical Scar Tissue
